A lifetime of close observation and love for animals is reflected in every piece of art. Jim is a master wood carver, artist and stone sculptor. Each piece has a unique personality and spirit. All natural materials used are gathered in a respectful manner by the artist.
As he begins each piece, he visualizes the animal and ask that the spirit guide his eyes and hands to bring out its essence to honor it.
Jim's respect and honor of all the animals is immediately evident in his attention to detail in every Spirit Staff and piece he creates. The personal expression of each animal he depicts, from the humorous smirk of a raven to the fierce aloofness of an eagle, allow you to feel the essence and spirit of each animal.
He is internationally known for his Spirit Staffs which are prized "Medicine Tools" of Shamans and Medicine Women of many different tribes and traditions from Alaska to Peru.
